Nigeria's aviation minister commissioned a remodelled terminal building at Ibadan Airport in May 2019, along with associated works including a new perimeter fence, as part of a federal government drive to rehabilitate domestic airport infrastructure. Officials said the terminal had been showing its age and that the project was intended to bring the facility up to a standard befitting its role serving the Oyo State capital.
Part of a Wider Round of Commissioning
The Ibadan project was inaugurated the same weekend as several other aviation facilities, including a newly installed instrument landing system at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, a new Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria training school, an aviation clinic, and a training school for the Nigerian Meteorological Agency. The string of commissionings was presented by officials as evidence of steady, if incremental, investment in aviation infrastructure across the country's network of airports.
